Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Girl Dies, Boy Hurt in Motorcycle Accident

A teen-age girl riding on the back of a motorcycle without a helmet was killed and her male companion, also not wearing a helmet, was critically injured when a car pulled out in front of them on Monday.

Names of the victims had not been determined as of late Monday. The girl was dead at the scene of the 12:14 p.m. accident in the 1900 block of McFadden Avenue. Her companion, believed also to be in his teens, was listed in guarded condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

Both victims suffered from head injuries when they were throw from the motorcycle after it collided with a car that police said made a left turn into their path on McFadden Avenue.

The 65-year-old woman who was driving the car was not injured. She was released at the scene pending further investigation by police.
