Jockey Hospitalized Following Spill at Los Al

Share

Jockey Dave Patton was reported in “fair” condition Monday night at Los Alamitos Medical Center following a spill in the evening’s third race of the Orange County Racing Fair at Los Alamitos.

Patton was aboard Jingo Boy, who was running second, when the gelding snapped both forelegs and went down on the far turn, tossing Patton to the dirt. Nostalgic Carousel and Manumit were unable to avoid the horse and jockey and spilled jockeys Kenny Sanchez and George Munsell, respectively.

Sanchez and Munsell were able to walk to the ambulance. Sanchez was taken off his mounts for the night, but Munsell continued to ride.

In the $28,000 allowance feature race, the filly Delaware Street went wire-to-wire to win by 1 1/2 lengths under the meet’s leading jockey, Corey Black.

The winning time was 1:17 1/5 for the 6 1/2 furlongs.
