July’s measure of new orders against shipments ratio declined slightly from June, the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Assn. reported. The industry’s average book-to-bill ratio for a three month period ending in July was 1.09, meaning that manufacturers received $109 worth of new orders for every $100 of product shipped. July’s result compares to June’s 1.15 book-to-bill average, and May’s revised average of 1.17.
