Malibu Cityhood Closer
A city of Malibu moved one step closer to reality today as the Local Agency Formation Commission gave final approval to the famed coastal community’s cityhood petition.
The approval means that residents could vote to make Malibu a city as early as March. Before approving the petition by a 6-1 margin, LAFCO rejected a request by Los Angeles County to retain control over the area’s sewers, a key to future growth, even if Malibu becomes a city.
