A woman who raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for her son’s liver transplants missed a Miami judge’s deadline to hand over jewelry and other items allegedly bought with the money, the curator of the boy’s estate said. Maria DeSillers’ lawyer had set up a meeting for his client to hand over the items, but that fell through and DeSillers asked the court to substitute a new lawyer, curator Karen Gievers said. Judge Francis Christie scheduled a hearing today on the request for a new lawyer and on the status of compliance with his Monday order that DeSillers turn over a BMW car and other purchases the curator says were financed with part of the nearly $689,000 donated for Ronnie DeSillers’ care. He died in April, 1987.
