The Hart all-star team rebounded from a three-run, first-inning deficit to defeat Hoosier North of Indiana, 8-3, Wednesday at Loeb Stadium in the first round of the Colt World Series.

Anthony Chessani relieved Hart starter Andrew Lorraine, who was tagged for two hits and yielded two walks in the first inning, and pitched 6 scoreless innings, striking out 11 and surrendering only one hit.

Hart, which fields six players who were principle members of last year’s Babe Ruth World Series champion, plays Hawaii in a winners’-bracket game Friday night. Hawaii defeated Hagerstown (Md.), 13-3, Wednesday.

“We kind of wanted to get these guys together again one last time,” Hart boys’ baseball league president Bob Adams said. “They looked pretty good tonight.”

Hart scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to tie the score. Catcher Jason Edwards doubled to score Darin Tsukashima and send Robbie Davis to third. After Chessani walked to load the bases, Chris Vasquez and Tim Rorick followed with run-scoring singles.

In the third, Vasquez singled to score Edwards and Tony Cervantez grounded out to score Chessani and give Hart a 5-3 lead. Hart added two more runs in the fifth. Rorick reached second on an outfield error, allowing Vasquez to score from first. Rorick scored on a single by Lance Migita.

Hart (14-1) scored its final run in the sixth when Edwards walked, stole second and scored on a single by Chessani. Chessani (5-0), who has surrendered only one earned run in 28 innings of tournament play, allowed only a single in the seventh.
