Baze Rides Mulhollande to Del Mar Victory
Mulhollande scored a two-length victory over Mazilier in the $45,000 turf feature Thursday, becoming the first horse to win two races during the Del Mar meeting.
Given a strong ride by Russell Baze, Mulhollande, which also won on July 27, rallied from just off the pace in the stretch to take the one-mile test in 1:35.
An outsider in the betting of the crowd of 13,043, Mulhollande paid $21.80, $11 and $8.40, and won $24,750 for Cardiff Stud Farm. Mazilier, with Eddie Delahoussaye up, returned $5 and $3.80, and Lord Ruckus, with Corey Black aboard, paid $7.20 to show.
