A moderate earthquake centered in eastern Utah shook an area 200 miles wide, triggering rockslides that closed at least one road but causing no major damage or serious injuries. The quake, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale, was centered near Ferron, about 135 miles east of Salt Lake City. Several rockslides occurred in eastern Utah canyons, and the Huntington Canyon Road in Emery County was closed because of a slide, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The temblor was felt as far east as Golden, Colo., and as far west as Delta, Utah, about 200 miles away.
