Kevin Hughes, starting defensive tackle for the Air Force, is being treated for a blood clot in his chest at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center at Aurora, Colo.
Falcon Coach Fisher DeBerry said Hughes, from Denver, complained of swelling just below his right arm after Friday’s practice.
Nurses said the clot could decrease circulation to the arm, or, if it broke loose, could travel to the lungs.
Hughes, who is in stable condition, will be hospitalized at least a week and is expected to be sidelined for three months.
