HER STORY

When I read Josh Greenfeld’s “A Child Called Noah” and “A Place for Noah,” I remember feeling sorry for his wife. “How horrible,” I thought, “not only to have to bear the pain of raising an autistic child but also to have to live with a husband as self-indulgent and self-pitying as Greenfeld.” However, after reading “Her Story,” I see that Kometani shares her husband’s mentality, and I see the insidiousness of disguising one’s hatred as art, as both Greenfeld and Kometani have done. She and her husband deserve each other.
