A car bomb linked to suspected Basque separatists exploded in Spain’s northern Navarre province, killing two paramilitary guards and wounding a woman and her infant son. Authorities said the incident at an intersection in the town of Estella, 180 miles north of Madrid, was the first fatal attack in five months by the armed separatist group ETA, a Basque-language acronym for “Basque homeland and freedom.” On Friday, the ETA set off two other bombs in the region, injuring five civil guardsmen, authorities said. The attacks came a day after the organization had called for new peace talks with the Socialist government.
