Cable Cut Darkens Boston

BOSTON —
Power was cut to several downtown blocks for two hours this morning after a fire broke out in an access hole, halting one subway line, snarling traffic and leaving shops, several major hotels and offices in the dark. The blaze was set off by a repair crew that cut Boston Edison Co. cables while digging for a gas leak.
