A missing person bulletin was issued Tuesday for a Tustin man, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, after he wandered away from the home he shares with his sister.

Police said they were searching for Louis F. Rosa, 63, who disappeared at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, shortly after returning with his sister from a vacation in Northern California, according to Lt. Frank Semelsberger.

“He was disoriented and thought his home was actually somewhere else,” Semelsberger said. “He argued with his sister and insisted that he leave and find his home.”

While she was telephoning relatives for help, Rosa walked out of the house on the 14800 block of Alden Lane, the sister told authorities.

Rosa had a similar experience in 1986, when he was missing for four months, according to police.

“He didn’t remember where he had lived during those four months,” Semelsberger said. “He apparently lived in the streets, wandering to Santa Monica, where a transient had seen a photo of him and brought him to the police station.”

Rosa is described as a white male, 5-foot-2, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a cross on his left hand and a tattoo of his Social Security number on his upper right arm. He also carries a California identification card, wears a medical alert bracelet and a ruby ring.

He was last seen wearing a tan sports coat, light blue floral design shirt, light blue pants and black shoes. He also answers to the name of “Chico.”
