Easygo Effort Rallies to Win at Los Alamitos

Heavily favored Easygo Effort rallied Tuesday to post the fastest qualifying time of 20.06 seconds for the $70,000 Breeders Derby to be run at Los Alamitos Race Course on Sept. 2.

With jockey Henry Garcia aboard, Easygo Effort broke inward from his No. 1 post and spotted 25-1 outsider Ramblin Wise a three-quarter-length lead at the one-eighth pole. But Easygo Effort rallied to post a neck decision in the second trial. Ramblin Wise finished another neck in front of third-place finisher Our Eddie Gee.

In the first trial, Hold Till Friday, under jockey Lute Proctor, recorded a half-length victory over Danceability, establishing the second-fastest mark of 20.09.

Easygo Effort returned $2.60.
