Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Candle Left Burning Starts $50,000 Fire
A candle left burning near a bed sparked a house fire that caused $50,000 in damage, fire officials said Thursday.
Bonnie Parris, a resident of the house in the 19000 block of Tigerfish Circle, told authorities she saw smoke wafting by her bedroom about 10:30 a.m. and called the Huntington Beach Fire Department, according to Birgit Davis of the Fire Department.
Parris’ 14-year-old daughter had left the candle burning in a rear bedroom, Davis said. The fire damaged two bedrooms and a bathroom. The rest of the house was damaged by smoke and heat, Davis said. No one was injured.
