Foreman Stops Mijangoes for His 11th Straight Victory
Former heavyweight champion George Foreman stopped Ladis Lao Mijangoes of Mexico on a second-round technical knockout before about 2,500 spectators at the Fort Myers Civic Center Thursday night.
The fight was stopped at 2:42 of the second round after Mijangoes (27-3) was knocked down by a punch to the jaw.
The 40-year-old Foreman (56-2) has won 11 consecutive fights since starting a comeback last year. Foreman weighed 245 pounds, Mijangoes 206.
Following the fight, Foreman said he could soon be ready for a bout against heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.
“If I’m given an opportunity to fight Mike Tyson, you’ll see something you’ve never seen before, Mike Tyson running,” Foreman said. “He’ll be running and he’ll be saying, ‘I’ve got to get out of here.’ ”
