Tudor Good, but Let’s Not Forget Guerrero

Last week’s letters on the Dodgers didn’t cover the bases. Getting John Tudor amounted to replacing an iffy fifth starter (the four-man rotation was a ruse) with an ace.

Aces inspire immeasurable confidence on the field, on the bench and in the clubhouse. Their reliability takes pressure off hitters, allowing them to relax and focus at the plate.

As for Tudor the man, he may be tightly wrapped, but if you look beneath the negative media image, you’ll see an intelligent perfectionist with a distaste for bright lights and insincere hype. He’s a hard worker and a winner, and no doubt if you asked his friends and family in Boston, they would tell you he’s a hell of a guy.
