It was the Swinging ‘60s, the era of tall boots, short skirts, unisex, Mary Quant in London, Rudi Gernreich in L.A., Courreges and Cardin in Paris. It was the birth of the boutique, the see-through blouse, the no-bra bra, the Beatles bob. It was prime time for Audrey Hepburn, Julie Christie and Nancy Sinatra (left to right in the vintage pictures above). Each was synonymous with a certain style, as were Jackie Kennedy and Twiggy. Now, courtesy of designers who were still in diapers in that decade, we can--with tongue in chic--replay the golden oldies in our wardrobes for fall. Actress Tania Coleridge stars in the flashback on these pages. British-born Coleridge, 22, plays the leggy high-fashion model who haunts George Michael in his “Father Figure” video.
