Local News in Brief : Irvine : Annex Parking Lot at Airport Closes Today
The smaller of two long-term parking lots at John Wayne Airport will close today to incoming cars, airport authorities said. The annex lot will be converted into an employee parking lot, off limits to the public.
Sharon Esterley, spokeswoman for the airport, said the nearby Main Street lot, which is more than double the size of the annex lot, will remain open at its present rate of $5 per day. It will also continue shuttle service to the main terminal.
Both lots are north of the San Diego Freeway, more than a mile from the airport. The Main Street lot is adjacent to Main Street, and the annex lot that is closing is off Sky Park Drive.
The annex lot had 879 spaces; the Main Street lot has 1,843 spaces.
