A helmetless motorcyclist speeding down a Tustin side street was seriously injured late Monday when he crashed into the rear of a car, police said.

The cyclist was identified as Vincent Williams, but his age and address were not immediately known. He was airlifted to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital & Medical Center after the 6:06 p.m. accident in the 1100 block of Mitchell Avenue.

Williams was listed in serious condition late Monday, hospital officials said.

Tustin police said witnesses told them the westbound motorcyclist was speeding recklessly when he crashed into the rear of a car waiting to turn left from Mitchell into a private driveway. Williams was thrown 75 feet by the impact. The driver of the car, whose name was not released, was treated for minor injuries at Health Care Medical Center in Tustin.
