Local News in Brief : Police Say Slayings Were Drug-Related

The shooting deaths Sunday of a woman and a girl outside a fortified house in Lake View Terrace were drug-related, police said Monday. While they were not sure why the two were killed, police said they were certain that cocaine was sold from the house in the 11400 block of Wheeler Avenue.

Police have not been able to identify the victims, described as a woman in her early 20s, a girl about 2 or 3 years old and a boy thought to be about a year old, who survived with minor injuries. The three were in a car parked outside the house.

Police said they believe a man who drove them to the house was also killed by gunmen. Evidence in the house, including a large amount of blood, indicates a killing took place. Neighbors said in past years the house was often the scene of drug dealing and gunfire. Police said the house was raided twice by drug teams in 1985.
