Quayle, 41, ‘in Excellent Health’

Associated Press

Republican vice presidential nominee Dan Quayle is in excellent health and has only a few minor problems including a slightly high cholesterol level, a report released by the candidate’s office said today.

“In summary you are a 41-year-old white male in excellent health without any active problems,” Dr. Robert Krasner of the U.S. Capitol’s office of attending physician wrote to the Indiana senator in a letter dated Aug. 29.

Quayle’s cholesterol level of 228 is “marginally elevated” and can be reduced by proper diet and exercise, the doctor wrote. The senator rides a stationary bicycle one to three times weekly and does not smoke, the report said.

The doctor also reported that Quayle suffers from a minor nosebleeding problem and an unspecified seasonal allergy that causes nasal swelling, for which he uses a nasal spray.
