Local News in Brief : 8 Die in Holiday Traffic in County
Eight people died on Los Angeles County roads and highways over the Labor Day weekend, compared to nine last year, the California Highway Patrol said. Statewide, there were 51 traffic deaths, compared to 64 last year.
The CHP arrested 568 suspected drunk drivers in Los Angeles County over the Labor Day weekend, 17 fewer than last year. In the state, the CHP arrested 2,350 people on suspicion of driving under the influence, up from 2,154 a year ago.
