A man was injured when his dump truck crashed into a La Jolla fire station Friday morning, in an incident similar to one that occurred two weeks ago at the same spot.

The truck, loaded with asphalt and pulling a steamroller, struck a corner of Engine Company 9 at Ardath Lane and Azure Coast Drive, one day after vegetation had been replanted where the earlier incident occurred, said fire spokesman Larry Cook.

The driver of the truck, identified as Dee Hough, 35, of La Mesa, was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where a spokesman said he was in fair condition after being treated for cuts and multiple pelvic fractures.

All of the station’s personnel were away on assignments at the time of the crash, Cook said.

Two weeks ago, a woman lost control of her vehicle and plowed down trees and shrubs at the station, the spokesman said.
