Tecate Bull Run

Share

I was disgusted by the pictures prominently displayed on the front page of the San Diego County section (Aug. 29) of drunken men kicking, harassing and abusing bulls at Tecate’s bull run. That the Los Angeles Times chose to give such high visibility (and any space at all) to such a debased spectacle is a real disappointment, and demonstrates an endorsement of animal abuse.

Why promote and advertise cruelty for fun? Would the paper print such large and prominent pictures of people kicking/brutalizing dogs and cats, or other animals? I doubt it. It’s not only the bulls who suffer in such repulsive and pointless events; several people were injured as well--however, they were quickly treated for their injuries, and they had a choice . . . the bulls do not.

The L.A. Times has a choice, too. Next time make an intelligent one.
