Design Is Fine, but Can’t Sell to the Neighbors

Regarding Sam Hall Kaplan’s column, “Hooray, We Hope, for Hollywood,” (July 31), I take exception to the handling of our neighborhood’s valid objections to erecting still another apartment complex in our congested, choking area, no matter what his opinion of the architecture.

We are overcrowded, suffer heavy traffic, there is a strain on all the community services, including police, fire, schools and sewage. There are over 2,500 new apartment units built in the last 2 1/2 years within a few blocks of the Franklin-La Brea corner. The last thing we need is another apartment complex, no matter how fine the architectural design.
