Sheriff’s deputies arrested a bounty hunter who allegedly impersonated a police officer and held a woman and her daughter captive while he interrogated them about a bail jumper, officials said Tuesday.

Samuel Dunlap, 28, of Los Angeles, was carrying a loaded shotgun when he was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a peace officer, false imprisonment and burglary, Deputy Richard Dinsmoor said.

He said Dunlap, wearing army boots, a bullet-proof vest and carrying handcuffs, arrived at the Ladera Heights home of Agnes Talley, 49, and her daughter Lisa, 18, about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

“Talley asked the man if he was a police officer and he said he was,” Dinsmoor said. “He ordered Talley and her daughter to remain seated on a couch and then searched their house. He then interrogated the pair about a suspect he was on the hunt for.”

Talley, whose “suspicions were aroused by the man’s lack of police identification and his hostile command of her home” telephoned authorities as he walked out her front door and deputies captured him nearby, Dinsmoor said. Dunlap had been searching for a bail jumper, whose name was not immediately available, he said.
