A Pacific Beach man who police say may be the leader of a brazen burglary ring that stole items from 200 homes in La Jolla pleaded guilty Friday to one count of burglary.

Brian Headrick, 21, faces sentencing Oct. 14.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Bruce Smith said Headrick, also known as Brian Gregory Adams, could be sentenced to a maximum of six years and a $10,000 fine.

“He’s going to state prison. It’s a question of how long,” said Smith.

San Diego Municipal Judge Jesus Rodriguez dismissed auto theft, receiving stolen property and drug charges against Headrick in a plea bargain.

Smith said Headrick’s attorney, James Pasto, wanted a deal in which Headrick would not be charged with any other burglaries if he pleaded guilty to one. Smith said he refused to accept those terms, and prosecutors are free to charge Headrick in any other burglaries in which they feel charges are warranted.

Headrick is awaiting sentencing in federal court in an unrelated case involving government computer equipment taken from a rental car in Pacific Beach.

Headrick had been free on $52,000 bail, but the judge revoked his bail and remanded him into custody.
