They’re All Drinking From the Wrong Cup

Michael Fay thinks it is only fair that Sail America answer his challenge in a boat similar to his.

Well then, why stop at a 133-foot boat and a mere $12 million? Why doesn’t he slap a sail on a $150-million ocean liner and announce his challenge in it? Then he can price everyone out of the competition and the beloved Cup would be his. At least until Malcolm Forbes could throw a sail on one of his yachts.

Fay has taken a world-class sporting event and entangled it in the U.S. court system, a Bermuda Triangle in which the Cup might not survive.
