Intruder Killed During Break-In

A 64-year-old mobile-home park resident shot and killed an intruder early Saturday when the man forced his way into the home and demanded money, police said.

Lawrence “Don” Huber, who lives in the Summit Ridge Resort Mobile Trailer Park on 63rd Street in the Encanto area of San Diego, told police that a man armed with a knife, forced his way into his home about 12:30 a.m. and demanded money. Huber refused, and a struggle ensued, during which he was slightly cut and bruised, police said.

The intruder was shot during the scuffle and fled across the yard, jumping a short fence and falling down a steep bank that fronts the 6200 block of Imperial Ave.

Police found the unidentified man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died.
