A senior official of Citicorp, which plans an aggressive expansion in retail banking, said Friday that the company’s consumer bank should earn $1 billion in 1993. “We’re going to reach $1 billion of earnings in five years,” Richard Braddock, head of Citicorp’s consumer bank, told a group of institutional investors at a New York conference sponsored by Paine Webber Group. The consumer banking division of Citicorp, the nation’s largest bank holding company, earned $540 million in 1987. Braddock said the retail unit has been lifting its earnings by $100 million a year.
