Kenya Fires 33 Over Poaching

NAIROBI, Kenya —
The government said today that it is firing 33 wildlife officials suspected of collaborating with poachers.
Independent wildlife experts in Kenya recently voiced concern that poachers, apparently with connivance of government officials, were stepping up the slaughter of elephants in Kenya’s national parks. President Daniel Arap Moi last week ordered game wardens to shoot poachers on sight.
