Glendale Police Arrest 8 in Auto Theft Ring

Share

Glendale police have arrested eight people and recovered drugs, seven stolen vehicles and numerous weapons from a motorcycle gang thought to be operating a large auto theft ring, authorities said Saturday.

Police Sgt. Mike Rock would not identify the motorcycle gang, some of whose members are thought to have stolen the cars, stripped them and switched their vehicle identification numbers.

Police made the arrests and found the stolen cars last week at four locations in Palmdale, Tujunga and Monrovia, Rock said. Evidence at Jewel City Glass Co. in Glendale, where a burglary and car theft occurred, led police to obtain search warrants for the four locations, Rock said.

Police would not disclose the nature of the evidence or the name of the gang because the investigation is continuing.

Among the items seized by police were a sawed-off, double-barreled shotgun, tools used to dismantle cars and a gun stolen in a Burbank burglary earlier this year, Rock said.

The suspects were identified as two Palmdale residents, three Tujunga residents a Sunland man, a Valencia woman and a teen-age girl.
