A Sylmar man was found fatally shot on a residential street in Pacoima shortly after noon Sunday and police believe he was the victim of a drive-by shooting.

Tracy Anderson, 24, was found dead in the 13000 block of Montford Street, the victim of several gunshot wounds to the torso, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Robert Ontiveros.

Witnesses told police that they saw at least five men, ages 18 to 24, leave the area after the shooting. Two were believed to have fled in a white, late-model Audi. The others were believed to have driven off in a black, late-model Ford Escort, Ontiveros said.

A semiautomatic rifle is believed to have been used in the shooting.

Police said they did not know the motive for the shooting, or if the attack was gang-related. But drugs may have been involved, Los Angeles Police Lt. George Rock said.

The shooting occurred on the same street and about 100 yards from the shooting last November of an alleged drug dealer by resident Joseph Calvin Grant, who is on trial in San Fernando Superior Court this week for assault with a deadly weapon, Ontiveros said. Grant, 58, is charged with shooting Lelatta Parks on Nov. 8, 1987, allegedly because she was dealing drugs outside his former home at Montford Street and Welk Avenue.
