6-Story Apartment Falls; 2 Die

Associated Press

A six-story apartment house collapsed today and slid down a steep mountainside in a wealthy district of this northern industrial city. Officials said at least two people, a man and a boy, were killed and an unknown number of others were trapped in the debris.

At least two people survived the collapse, but both were injured. Police investigator Francisco Javier Nakashima said the 3-year-old cement building collapsed shortly before 9 a.m. and that residents had complained for six months that the structure was leaning.
