Cabaret pianist Michael Feinstein put his money right where his voice was Sunday night in Baltimore: at a benefit concert for the nonprofit Health Education Resources Organization, an AIDS help organization. Feinstein joined singer Roberta Flack and comedians Paula Poundstone and Kevin Rooney in performing at “Lifesongs ‘88,” which raised more than $170,000 for the group. But Feinstein, who’s doing a five-week run of Gershwin recitals in Baltimore, went further: He wrote a $7,500 check to the organization. Letters of support for the organization from President Reagan, actress Elizabeth Taylor and singer Dionne Warwick were read during the 3 1/2-hour event.
