The Empires of Asia trip described by Ken Kantor in “Ending Up in India on a Cruise” (Sept. 11) has been discontinued. Royal Cruise Line deleted the land portion, added cruise time to such places as the Suez Canal and calls the trip “The Route of Marco Polo.” It’s pricey, but a great itinerary.

I took this journey in February and many of my companions became ill with severe intestinal and/or respiratory problems. I loved India and intend to go back some day. However, travelers should not depend on a cruise line nor tour operators for information about potential health problems. They should do their own research.
