CIA Activities in Nicaragua

Share

Thank you for your editorial about Wright revealing that Congress “had received clear testimony from CIA people that they had deliberately done things to provoke an overreaction” from the Nicaraguan government.

The World Court and the United Nations have ruled that the United States has violated international law by attacking Nicaragua. President Reagan has never intended to stop Contra terrorist attacks, which have continued in spite of the peace plan promises.

In 1975, Sen. Frank Church’s committee had counted over 3,000 “covert actions” by the CIA. Secret wars and disinformation and destabilization have no place in the foreign policy of a democratic society. The editorial points out that because Wright spoke out, this “may have ensured that future U.S. intelligence activities will be hidden from Congress.” Russian intelligence knows what the CIA and the Contras are doing, but the Congress and the American people are kept in the dark! The disinformation tactics of the CIA are being used to misinform us!
