A 32-year-old gas station attendant was shot in the arm Thursday afternoon by a man who tried to rob him.

Garden Grove Police Sgt. Harlen Hanson said the assailant, described as a Latino in his mid-20s who was wearing a white T-shirt and red sweat pants, went to the gas station in the 10700 block of Westminster Avenue at 4:45 p.m. and demanded money.

When the attendant, Harout Ioun Markarian, refused to hand over the cash, he was shot once in the left arm by the bandit, who then fled on foot, Hanson said.
