The House voted 406-0 to authorize the transfer of more than $150 million in unspent Defense Department funds to the United Nations for new peacekeeping initiatives. In asking for the transfer, President Reagan identified potential needs for peacekeeping in four conflicts: $110 million for southern Africa, $17 million for Afghanistan, $19 million for the Iran-Iraq cease-fire and $7.5 million for the Western Sahara. The bill now goes to the Senate for action.
