Plane Slams into Hotel in China; 42 Killed
A sightseeing plane with 46 aboard crashed into the roof of a hotel and exploded shortly after takeoff from a northern Chinese city Friday, killing all but four on board, an official daily said today.
The China Youth News said the four others on the Soviet-built Ilyushin-14 light transport were injured, as were some workers in the Xinqiao Hotel in Linfen, Shanxi province, about 400 miles southwest of Beijing.
It said the passengers, employees of a knitting factory, were on a tour run by a local air company. The cause of the crash was not stated.
