I haven’t seen the new Vietnam War movie “Platoon Leader,” but I’m doubtful that it will avoid the usual stereotypes and distortions of history.
I’m waiting for Hollywood to release a Vietnam War film that honestly represents the Vietnamese people and their culture. Or one pointing out that one of the main goals of the U.S. campaign of economic and human devastation against Vietnam was to discourage other Third World countries that, like Vietnam, would dare to seek refuge from the U.S. sphere of influence.
