Navy Secretary William Ball has not decided if David Robinson, the U.S. Olympic center who was the NBA’s No. 1 overall draft choice in 1987, will be released early from his service commitment so that he can join the San Antonio Spurs.
Robinson, a 7-foot 1-inch former All-American at the Naval Academy now serving as an ensign, is due to be released from the Navy in May, after 2 years of active duty.
His attorney, Len Fentress, sent Ball a letter last Friday, asking that Robinson be released from active duty 8 months early.
