Mead Corp.’s third-quarter profit soared 75% from a year ago to $170.5 million. The Dayton, Ohio, forest products and electronic publishing company reported record sales of $1.17 billion, up 6%. The firm attributed the results to a gain from the sale of its Brunswick Pulp & Paper mill and continued growth in U.S. and European economies, which has created unprecedented demand for its products and services.
