MIAMI —
The Miami News, a money-losing afternoon newspaper founded before Miami became a city, was offered for sale today by Cox Enterprises Inc., which said the paper will cease publication Dec. 31 if no buyer is found.
David Easterly, president of the Cox newspaper division, said lack of support forced the communications company to sell the newspaper.
“Quite simply, the Miami News, despite an outstanding editorial presentation, is not supported by advertisers or readers,” Easterly said.
