Local News in Brief : Orange : Police Arrest Man in Landscaping Fraud

Share

A man suspected of bilking several Orange County residents out of thousands of dollars on promised landscaping projects was arrested Friday, police said.

William Henry Miller, 24, of San Juan Capistrano was arrested by Orange police at a home in the city.

Officers posed as customers by answering one of Miller’s newspaper advertisements offering “landscaping at reasonable rates,” Orange Police Sgt. Timm Browne said.

Officers began the undercover investigation last week after an Orange resident reported that he had given Miller a down payment for some landscaping work, but that Miller never returned to begin the project.

“What he does is give the victims an estimate for the work, then he takes a down payment and fails to do the work,” Browne said.
