Local News in Brief : Talks in Teamster Strike Collapse

Share

Negotiations between Hollywood producers and 3,100 striking studio drivers, electricians and laborers collapsed Monday after both sides failed to make any progress during three days of talks.

Federal mediator Barbara Pickett-Conner, who had requested a resumption of contract negotiations Friday, said the producers and striking workers remain far apart on a number of key issues. No new talks are scheduled.

For the first time, both sides expressed fear that the 2-week-old strike could extend for months.

“The two sides are miles apart,” said an official of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. “This is going to be a long one.”
