The House, hoping to reach a last-minute compromise with the Senate, passed a revised bill today that would bar former members of Congress from lobbying their colleagues for one year after leaving office.

An earlier House version of the bill was changed by the Senate to strengthen restrictions and sent back to the House, where it was amended further. With Congress expected to adjourn late today, the fate of the latest compromise rested with the Senate.
