4 Crewmen Saved After Fishing Boat Capsizes
Four crewmen were rescued Sunday from a 48-foot fishing boat that capsized and sank off San Pedro with a large load of squid.
U.S. Coast Guard officials said they received an emergency call at 9:34 a.m. that the Patriot, heading toward its home port in Long Beach, was taking on water three miles southwest of Pt. Fermin.
When a Coast Guard patrol boat and other rescue vessels manned by Los Angeles city firefighters and lifeguards arrived, they found the fishing boat partially flooded with water that was leaking through a hatch.
