A U.S. military patrol exchanged gunfire over the weekend with unidentified intruders at an American military site in Panama, but no one was injured and no evidence of the intruders was found, according to the U.S. Southern Command. The spokesman said two military policemen, on patrol in the jungle near a fuel-storage area at Howard Air Base, fired and lit a flare after hearing movements and two rounds of gunfire. It was the first reported shooting since August.
